To Whom It May Concern: My name is Ron Beer, singer, songwriter, and director of a cultural network for
songwriting in Durham Region. Our mission is to unite Regional Songwriters Groups
and showcase them in the annual Songwriters Music Festival. We are writing to you
today to request an opportunity to present our sponsorship appeal.
The second annual Festival will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Whitby
Centennial Building. We are inviting songwriters from Eastern Canada this year to
represent their regional group. Each representative will perform at the Music
Festival and contribute two songs to a compilation CD. Also this year, our Durham
group has grown and there will be more local talent presented at the Festival and on
the compilation CD.
Another exciting addition to our Festival this year is Art Fusion – the joining of art
and music. We have two Durham artists that will be creating a work of art to the
sounds of two of our talented songwriters.
This educational and cultural event is an opportunity for the community of Durham
Region to host a national festival and give an avenue of growth to our nations
aspiring singer/songwriters. Our biggest obstacle is funding. In order for the
songwriters to attend the festival and gain exposure we require sponsorship for them
in the form of travel and accommodation expenses, printing and advertising
expenses, and compilation CD production.
With your support you will receive exposure throughout the year on our print,
t-shirts and CD material being used at all our events, concerts and community
activities; such as our monthly songwriters meetings in Whitby and Bowmanville, and
songwriter courses being offered in Ajax, Whitby, and Bowmanville. In addition,our
Concert League that presents Songwriter at the Waterfront and Songwriter in the
Library. Our print material will also be used during the audition process. The
exposure for your company will also expand to our new Fusion project where we
cross-pollinate with other arts organizations in Durham Region.
With the support of the municipalities of Ajax, Whitby and Clarington we have
developed meetings, courses and concerts. Canadians are very good at
songwriting, and through our group we are able to provide an avenue of growth for
our Durham artists. We hope that you can be a part of this great annual event and
support our artists.
