Shannon Bowdring is an abstract and mixed-media artist whose paintings could be described as emotion on canvas. Mainly self-taught, her work uses layers, colour, and texture and seeks to evoke emotion in the viewer. Some of Shannon ’s satisfaction as an artist comes from showing others they can be artists as well. As a painting instructor at institutions such as The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, she hopes to inspire and guide students to learn the fundamentals of art while prioritizing experimentation instead of traditional theory. Shannon ’s vision of making the world better through art is realized when a student discovers skills they have buried inside. Shannon works as a graphic artist and illustrator and her works have been shown in various group exhibitions across Ontario.
